Shasuryu Shasha (シャースーリュー・シャシャ) is the leader of the Lizardman Tribes and chieftain of the Green Claw Tribe. He is the older brother of Zaryusu Shasha. He was also amongst the few surviving lizardmen who fought against Cocytus himself.
Appearance[]
Shasuryu Shasha has dark green and charcoal black scales, a trait that he shares with his younger brother, Zaryusu Shasha. His is quite striking as he is incredibly huge, making average lizardmen look small in comparison. A single long, white and old scar stands out on his black scales like lightning. He also has numerous smaller scars all over his body.
Personality[]
Shasuryu Shasha has a playful personality and one of the more practical minded lizardmen in the Wetlands. Though he follows his ancestors' traditions, he is not blinded by them and is willing to take a new path to forge a new future for his people.
Background[]
Shasuryu Shasha is the current Green Claw chieftain. He has won the competition to be a chief twice in a row, and due to this success, managed to retain his position without needing to fight any challengers to his authority.
Chronology[]
The Lizard Man Heroes Arc[]

Shasuryu Shasha greets his younger brother Zaryusu at the village fishery. He praises his brother's ingenuity in introducing the fish farm to the tribe, making harvesting fish from the lake more stable and productive. His brother brushes aside the praises, insisting that the farms wouldn't have existed without his continuous support. Shasuryu along with his tribe witness the arrival of Ainz's undead messenger who declares the impending doom of the lizardmen.[1]
At the tribal council, Shasuryu supports his brother's idea for a tribal alliance with all lizardmen in the Wetlands. While his brother departs to gather representatives from both Red Eye and Dragon Tusk, he gathered the representatives from Razor Tail and Small Fang. At the gathering of the chieftains, all members agree to unite and placed Shasuryu as the head of the Lizardmen Alliance.[2]
After the battle against the undead army, Shasuryu witnessed in horror of a stronger second undead army outside Green Claw's doorstep. As the leader of the alliance, he and his brother approached the Overlord Ainz Ooal Gown for a parley. The lizardman's surrender was rejected in favor for a more entertaining alternative. Ainz proposed that the lizardmen fight for their freedom against his champion, Cocytus. If the lizardmen won Nazarick would leave them alone forever, however if they lost they would submit to him.[3]
Shasuryu Shasha led the chieftains, save Crsuch, and a band of the strongest warriors in the Lizardmen Alliance against Cocytus. Majority of the warriors fell in battle due to Cocytus's freezing ability, until only the chieftains were left. Shasuryu and Zaryusu were the two last lizardmen left standing, but the two were eventually killed.[4]
After Zaryusu was resurrected by Ainz's magic, the lizardman requested that he resurrect his brother and Zenberu. Ainz considered the request and told him to preserve the bodies.[5]
The Two Leaders Arc[]

When Mare Bello Fiore visits the Lizardmen's village, Shasuryu rushes to greet the Floor Guardian. After informing him of the whereabouts of Cocytus, they shared a conversation of the operations of the new fish farms. He expresses gratitude for the assistance Nazarick has provided for his people. After hearing all the amazing stories about Nazarick from the other lizardmen that traveled there and occasionally visited the Great Lake, he asks Mare if Ainz is a god. Mare confirms this, shocking the lizardman.[6]

Mass for the Dead Arc[]

When Zaryusu introduced the protagonist and to Shasuryu, the leader of Green Claw accepted their help to investigate why the lake temperature was rising. After it was discovered that Heatstones were the cause, the stones were taken as payment by the protagonist for helping Green Claw. Shasuryu even offered to provide more to trade, opening relations with Nazarick.[7]
Shasuryu was eventually convinced by Zaryusu to establish long-term alliances with the other lizardmen tribes as it would be in their best interest given the state of the world. While speaking with Kyuku Zuzu the leader of Razor Tail his brother brought his the protagonist over as they had an issue of ghosts haunting the Tob Forest.[8]
The chieftain would extend an invitation for Cocytus and his associates, Slimeko and the protagonist for a feast at the village. The trio accepted and were greeted by the chieftain and his brother Zaryusu. They also met again with Kyuku and met Zenberu Gugu the chieftain of Dragon Tusk. Shasuryu witnessed a duel between Cocytus and three of his tribemates which served as entertainment for the festivities.[9]
Shasuryu and Zayusu would continue to work to with Nazarick and establish a mining operation to mine gold and heatstones. They also began to unite most of the lizardmen tribes in the Great Lake. Not only Razor Tail joined but also Dragon Tusk. During one tribal meeting an unnatural cold wave hit the wetlands, coming from the mountains. Due to the weather, many monsters began to migrate to escape the cold and head towards the lake. Shasuryu and his fellow lizardmen not only had to fight the aggressive beasts but try to stay warm amid the freezing temperatures. Cocytus came to their aid lending his forces and sword to fight the encroaching monsters. To keep the lizardmen from freezing Cocytus ordered that the heatstones that wee to be shipped to Nazarick be used to warm themselves. To solve what was causing this change in weather, members of the Pleiades agreed to find the source of the abnormality. Shasuryu and his fellows saw them off. When they successfully returned the weather was returning to normal. Shasuryu then declared a celebration and invited the maids from Nazarick to partake.[10]
Some time after the protagonist permanently immigrated to E-Rantel to coordinate with the Tripartite Alliance, the chieftain of Green Claw was present when Crusch Lulu of Red Eye was introduced to Cocytus. There Shasuryu gave his thanks to the Floor Guardian for being an exemplar that the lizardmen strive for. He and the other chieftains affirmed their wish to pay back the aid that Nazarick and the Supreme One had given them and asked Cocytus to relay the message to his master.[11]
When the protagonist arrived with his party to pick up Zenberu to be a part of the Sorcerer Kingdom's delegation to the Dwarf Kingdom, Shasuryu and Zaryusu greeted them and reported on the progress of renovating the abandoned village were underway to allow for habitation and coexistence with other races.[12]
For the upcoming Sorcerer Kingdom's National Foundation Ceremony Day, Cocytus extended an invitation to Shasuryu and the lizardmen. Though he wife was currently pregnant with his child, Shasuryu accepted the invite as to show his gratitude to his people's benefactors.[13] The lizardmen were transported from the Great Lake region to Fake Nazarick via carriage. There the leader of Green Claw and his comrades were greeted by Yuri Alpha and the Pleiades and brought to meet the other guests attending the event. At the ceremony, Momonga personally addressed Shasuryu and his people, acknowledging their alliance to the Sorcerer Kingdom. Furthermore Momonga was aware of Shasuryu newborn child and promised to give the chieftain a gift for the baby afterwards. Shasuryu and his party would be guided to the banquet of the venue where they enjoyed the delicacies provided, made small talk with Cocytus and participated in the ballroom dance. Before returning to the Great Lake Shasuryu was able to admired the newly unveiled Sorcerer King Momonga Statue.[14]
The lizardmen were graced by a visit from an entourage from the Sorcerer Kingdom when the village was celebrating Zaryusu's union with Crusch. For a change the lizardmen were sought help from their patrons, concerning information on usable fiber plants from the Tob Forests that could be used for fabrics. Sadly Shasuryu could not assist them as the lizardmen did not have much knowledge on the plants in the forest. Though some information on fabric weaving was provided by Crusch Lulu.[15]
The lizardmen received another visit from the Sorcerer Kingdom, when the protagonist and Slimeko bringing Aura Bella Fiora and Mare Bello Fiore seeking the lizardmen's assistance in aquatic combat training for an upcoming scout mission to an isolated island. Shasuryu along with Kyuku and Zaryusu agreed to oversee the combat training for the elves. After the training was done he witnessed Zaryusu Shasha formally requested to join the mission to the island. Shasuryu tried to convince his brother to think otherwise as his wife was soon due to deliver their child. However Crusch permitted Zaryusu to go on the expedition.[16]
After Zaryusu returned from his trip to the island, he informed Shasuryu and the other chieftains of the island potential as a feeding ground for a fishery. And that he was granted the rights to the reef of the island as a reward from Momonga as long as the lizardmen assisted in building a base in the new territory. When Zaryusu was worried about overstepping himself due to his traveler status and tried apologizing, Shasuryu told him that he had nothing to apologize for. In fact he was happy for the boon that Zaryusu had given them, believing that his brother should stop living in the past with stigma as a traveler and fully move on. If Zaryusu was worried about any blowback from other traditionalists disapproving of Zaryusu interacting with outsiders or bringing them to the village to broaden their tribemates horizon, Shasuryu told his younger brother he will take care of it.[17]
When a unconscious human girl was found in the Tob Forest by the village rangers. After their guest awoke, Shasuryu, Zaryusu, Crusch learned that the human transported to the Great Lake area via a Crack and was from a place called Britannia and used a different system of magic in contrast to tier magic. Having no way to return their guest home, it was decided that they should notify the Sorcerer Kingdom. However the village was soon attacked by an unprecedented horde of Chaos Beasts that surged from Tob Forest. In the battle, the human woman was about to be attacked by a Double Sword Chaos Beast. It looked as if she would be killed, by Cocytus arrived in time to slay the Chaos Beast which to Shasuryu's relief.[18]
Some months after the Calamity of Cracks, Shasuryu and the other tribal leaders received a visit from Slimeko and Renner Theiere Chardelon Ryle Vaiself, representatives of the Sorcerer Kingdom, who informed them that the lizardmen's request for an ice room was approved. In addition, the representatives wanted to include an ice statue of Momonga inside it, a feature Shasuryu approved of including and was supportive to the idea of allowing his tribemates pray to him, given the number of times the Sorcerer King aided his people.
Crusch was a little resistant to the idea and stated that she prayed for everyone's safety. From this her brother-in-law Shasuryu asked if it was mostly for her husband, causing her to be ruffled by the statement. Due to having guests, the priest apologized to Renner and Slimeko for the inappropriate sight, but the imp and slime did not mind.[19]
Not too long after, the village of lizardmen would receive a sudden visit by the Sorcerer King. At first Shasuryu and his people were confused and fearful of the arrival of the king, but they calmed down after seeing the delegation bearing gifts of fresh fish made using magic for the demi-humans. Shasuryu was grateful for the fish that was provided by the visit of the Sorcerer King as the food was far superior to anything he had ever seen.
The Sorcerer King's delegation were passing through the area, as part of their New Year's event, and were checking the area for any abnormalities along the way. Though the chieftain and his people reported that there were no odd occurrences. Before the delegation departed, the chieftain expressed his thanks to the Sorcerer Kingdom, having been generous patrons to his people.[20]
Abilities and Powers[]
Shasuryu Shasha is not only a skilled warrior, but also a proficient druid who combines his magic with his weapon. He is capable of using "Over Magic" to utilize higher tier magic that is usually inaccessible.

- Earth Bind: By using this spell, numerous chains are created from mud and then flew at the target to bind it
- Mass Cure Light Wounds: A low tier healing spell allows to heal light wounds for a wider range of targets.
- Protection Energy - Ice: Provides limited protection from ice attacks.
Main Equipment[]
- Steel Sword: Unlike the bone and claw weapons made for use by regular lizardmen, Shasuryu has a weapon forged from pure steel. It is about 2m in height and it signifies his status as chief of the tribe. It is also enchanted with magic, which further increases its sharpness and prevents from rusting.

Zaryusu Shasha[]
As eldest of the family, Shasuryu is quite supportive of his younger brother and tries to help him reintegrate into the tribe even though travelers are forever marked as outsiders. Wishing for his brother to settle down and have family, he encourages him to seek a mate despite his stigma.
Zenberu Gugu[]
Zenberu, after meeting the Green Claw chieftain, challenged Shasuryu Shasha to a duel during the initial chieftain introductions in order to see who was stronger. Much to his delight Shasuryu agreed, but asked to postpone their duel, when the scouts returned and gave their report of the enemy's movements.
Trivia[]
- Shasuryu was later revived by Ainz after he was killed by Cocytus in a battle by the request of Zaryusu.
- Shasuryu is currently the chief of all the lizardman tribes and is assisting in the construction of the fourth modified fish farm.
- Shasuryu is second from the bottom at "Maruyama's Governing Ranking" due to his very limited worldview.
- On Maruyama's Governing Ranking, Shasuryu was ranked above Suzuki Satoru who is dead last of being a competent ruler but still falls short below Barbro.[21]

You just haven't met the right one yet...Alright, back on topic, I am the chief of the Green Claw tribe, Shasuryu Shasha. Thank you for agreeing to ally with us."
- (To Mare): "Yes. Our - no - my younger brother's knowledge only relates to raising the fish that were somewhat grown already. But Demiurge-sama taught us the basics, so we're also preparing the fish farm for the hatchlings as well. I predict that within few years, we'll have doubled the food supply just from the fish farm."
- (To Mare): "When Zaryusu and others staying over at the great castle came back for a bit, they told stories of a dream-like world. They told of the various worlds in the Great Tomb of Nazarick, like a true realm of a god. Does Ainz-sama possess the power of a god?"
